Yes! All The Book Club reading glasses feature our blue light technology, blocking 30% of harmful blue light wavelengths.

How do I know if I need reading glasses and what strength do I need?

Do you find yourself squinting at the page, holding your phone closer to your face, or asking a friend to recite you the menu? If this is the case, you may be in need of some reading glasses. Not to worry, this is what we are here for!

You can use our guide here to assist you in finding the correct strength for you.

What is Blue light?

Blue light is all around us, mostly emitted from the sun. As we have moved into the digital age, we are finding more and more people use digital devices throughout the day and into the night. It’s this constant use of digital devices and exposure to blue light wavelengths, which is causing our eyes to differ from Digital Eye Strain.

What is Digital Eye Strain?

We can’t escape the hard truth that we live in the digital age, we spend our lives glued to screens (even our books are on a screen!)

With our increased exposure to screens, we are undoubtedly increasing our exposure to blue light wavelengths and screen glare. Disruptive sleep patterns (melatonin regulation), headaches, dry eyes and reduced attention spans are all common side effects to Digital Eye Strain.

Statistics show 65% of people report experiencing symptoms of Dight Eye Strain.

Do blue light glasses help relieve Digital Eye Strain?

Yes! The Book Club eyewear blocks 30% of blue light emitted from screens from reaching your eyes. Studies are ongoing, with research showing users report feeling less eye strain and a better night’s sleep after wearing ‘blue blocking’ lenses. And, we can assure you will look good too!

How does the blue light lens technology work?

Our blue lens technology is designed to cut down BL UV400 by up to 30%. The slight yellow tint coating the lens works to absorb harmful blue light rays, whilst still allowing other light to pass through.

If you also need a helping hand with magnification, not to fear our reading glasses are also fitted with this same blue light technology!

Are your glasses BPA free?

Yes! All TBC eyewear is proudly BPA Free.

What material is your Sustainable range made from?

RA30 - RECYCLED ACRYLIC (PMMA): Premium recycled acrylic material made from 70% recycled PMMA, and 30% stabilized PMMA. Carefully selected for its gloss finish and recycled properties, this material is certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

rPET - RECYCLED PET: Recycled material made from 30% recycled optical grade PET certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), combined with 70% stabilized PET. Featuring a gloss finish and smooth touch, this material will not warp and does not contain bisphenol A (BPA) or bisphenol S (BPS).

HPA8 - RICE-STRAW: Sourcing from key rice growing regions of China and Taiwan, innovative bio-plastic producer Truegrasses has harnessed the properties of this agricultural waste product for its biomass potential. A by-product normally burned on site after grain is harvested, rice straw is transformed to make up 35% of this new material combined with 65% post-consumer recycled polypropylene (PP). An organic, flecked look and tactile matte finish propels this bioplastic to the frontline of sustainable plastic alternatives. Global Recycle Standard (GRS) Certified.

TRTN - TRITAN (BPA-FREE): This plastic became freely available around the time The Book Club was founded. Tritan plastic is BPA-free, flexible, lightweight, uses less energy in production compared to PC and can be recycled at level 7 (other) easily when the material is dyed rather than painted.

TRITAN RENEW: Made from 50% recycled content which is recovered and recycled in a closed loop system by Eastman. Developed by Eastman as part of their sustainable future initiative which aims to end reliance on virgin plastics made from non-renewable fossil fuels, through innovative recycling methods which deliver virgin-grade quality. Does not contain bisphenol A (BPA). Each step of the supply chain must be independently certified. ISCC vendor certified.
